Investment Management

Invest in our expertise.

With unpredictable financial markets, changing tax regulations, and a shifting political landscape, it's not enough just to build wealth. You need to grow and protect it.

At First Financial Trust, our team of investment management experts will work with you to develop an investment plan that becomes a road map to growing your wealth. Based on your unique financial objectives, we will construct and manage a highly diversified portfolio designed to outperform the market over long periods of time.

How Your Investment Management Plan is Designed

Whether your goal is saving for retirement, passing along wealth to your children, providing a retirement plan for your employees, or creating an income stream during retirement, we will tailor a portfolio that fits.

With a clear understanding of your goals, our team will establish an asset allocation to achieve them. We believe the choice of how much to put in stocks, bonds, and cash is the most important step in generating the necessary returns to meet your objectives.

Next, the investment team will locate and select investments to construct a diversified portfolio that matches your asset allocation. We then actively manage and monitor your stocks, bonds and mutual funds on a daily basis to ensure your investments are on track.

Finally, as a fiduciary, we believe risk management is just as important as the returns you earn from the portfolio. Our company has a disciplined approach toward investment selection, portfolio construction, and re-balancing that we adhere to in both good and bad markets.

Fixed Income

Fixed income should be the part of your investment portfolio that exhibits lower risk and lower volatility. We seek a strategy of maximum total return, consistent with preservation of capital and prudent investment management. We believe that fixed income should represent the foundation of your overall investment portfolio, and therefore, we will never sacrifice credit quality to achieve higher returns. We invest in the highest credit quality bonds to minimize credit risk, generally purchasing bonds with credit ratings of A or better. We also purchase bonds with various maturities to minimize interest rate risk.

Taxable Fixed-Income Management:
  • A combination of US Government Agency, US Government Mortgage Backed Security, and high-quality corporate bonds
  • None of the bonds are callable
  • Evaluated from a risk to return standpoint (where the portfolio of bonds is on the interest rate curve) with modifications made when needed
Tax-Exempt Fixed-Income Management:
  • A combination of high-quality general obligation and revenue bonds
  • Evaluated from a risk to return standpoint (where the portfolio of bonds is on the interest rate curve) with modifications made when needed
