Growth in Wise County is spurred by commercial and residential development in the Lake Bridgeport resort area, the recent explosion of oil and gas exploration in the Barnett Shale region, and the expansion of a regional medical facility in Decatur. In addition, Wise County rock quarries are the primary suppliers of the concrete aggregate used in Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex construction.
